Start the Journey in China: Kaipule and Finnish Startups Attended Conference in Qingdao

On 28th of March, Kaipule brought four Finnish startups, Wake Dynamite, Air0, PuzzlePhone, Flexbright to Qingdao International Smart Industry Summit in China.

Organized by Qingdao government and Amazon Web Services (AWS), the event gathered together over 800 government officials, international and local VCs, angel investors and startups. It aims to provide cloud-computing services, including web services, new technologies such as cloud-computing and big data, and capital and services support, to global startups. Speakers including Steven Hoffman, CEO of Founders Space, Yongkang Rong, global vice president of Amazon AWS and Yizhong Li, former minister of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology shared their insights about the latest trends and international collaborations.

Qingdao is the largest city in Shandong province. Famous for its electronics and household appliance industry, Qingdao is actively seeking for new technologies and innovations to transform its existing industries, and is attracting international startups and talents to settle down.

30 startups from all over the world took part in the exciting pitching competition. The selected 4 Finnish startups specialized in SaaS, clean-tech, semiconductor and consumer electronics shined on stage.

Following the pitching competition, the Finnish companies met with Laigang Group, one of the biggest state-owned enterprises in China, and Hisense, the Chinese leading electronic manufacturer, and also AWS China, who launched an innovation center in Qingdao. All the companies are extremely interested in cooperating with or investing in Finnish high-tech companies.

I am particularly glad with the invitation. It provides great opportunity and potential of international innovation for us, and also other Finnish companies.” Said Atte Varsta, CEO at Flexbright.

Wake Dynamite

Wake Dynamite, provides broadcasters, publishers and outdoor advertising companies with modification enabled advertisement. With a simple browser based interface, the advertisers can access their dynamic campaigns and modify the contents of the TV and online advertisements.


Flexbright is specialized in printed and hybrid LED-lighting solutions. The product uses flexible and light elements with extremely thin structure. The intelligence inside, including integrated sensors (humidity, light, etc.) and printed solar cells and batteries, also enables its clean-tech and IoT capabilities.  


The modular smartphone company focuses on sustainability. It has three easily replaceable and customizable modules: critical electronics (CPU, GPU, RAM, memory and cameras), high-res display and battery. Besides, PuzzlePhone established open standard to unleash hardware potential.


Air0 is the world’s most powerful purifier with the highest CADR value. It removes ultrafine particles, bacteria, viruses, VOC’s and smell with lower cost on filters.
